[Saba Sports News]The badminton competition at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will begin on the 27th of this month. A few days ago, “Bernama News Agency” published an article expressing optimism that Lee Zii Jia would have a chance to win Malaysia’s first Olympic gold medal. The article pointed out that after winning his first significant championship at the 2021 All England Badminton Open, Lee Zii Jia decided to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia in early 2022 and temporarily withdrew from the 2022 Malaysia Games, which caused some controversy at the time. Another conflict between Lee Zii Jia and the Badminton Association of Malaysia arose during this year’s Thomas Cup in Chengdu, concerning the cost of image rights. Eventually, the Badminton Association of Malaysia had to pay compensation in order for Lee Zii Jia to represent the Malaysian national team. Despite the controversies surrounding his actions, Lee Zii Jia has high hopes after winning two Super 500 championships this year. Currently, Lee Zii Jia is training in Singapore with world championship champion Loh Kean Yew, talented Thai player Kunlavut Vitidsarn, and Hong Kong star Lee Cheuk Yiu. His goal is to surprise everyone at the Paris Olympics.
