[Saba Sports News] According to RacingNews365, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc confirmed his interest in participating in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race before ending his racing career but does not rule out competing in the Indy 500 series as well. Previously, many F1 drivers, including world champion Max Verstappen, expressed their desire to participate in Le Mans races; however, due to F1’s intensive schedule, drivers have little opportunity to explore competitions outside of F1. The 27-year-old Leclerc has signed a five-year extension with Ferrari F1 until 2024, which means he is unlikely to have a chance to participate in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race before 2029. The Le Mans 24-hour endurance race takes place every June and is known as one of the toughest single events requiring three drivers to form a team and drive the same car for a continuous 24-hour competition. Since its inaugural race in 1923, except for a few years before and after World War II, the Le Mans endurance race has never been interrupted. Ferrari is one of the most successful manufacturers at Le Mans and has won both recent supercar races.
