[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Lakers signed Quincy Olivari to a two-way deal on Saturday, prompting LeBron James to congratulate him on Instagram, writing, “YEEEEAAAAHHHHH Q!!!!! Congrats kid 🙏👑.”
A two-way contract allows players to split time between the NBA and G League.
To make room for Olivari, the Lakers waived Colin Castleton, who had played mainly for the team’s G League affiliate.
Olivari impressed in preseason, scoring 22 points with seven rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes against the Warriors, and 11 points in nine minutes against the Bucks last week.
Head coach JJ Redick praised Olivari’s work ethic and disruptive play, calling it a “blueprint” for what the team expects from players in his role. Olivari, who went undrafted out of Xavier, had been with the Lakers’ Summer League team and training camp.
The Lakers begin their regular season on October 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
