[Saba Sports News] Spanish media reports indicate that Barcelona president Joan Laporta declined a meeting with Xavi due to a tight schedule. News broke a few days ago suggesting that Xavi might be fired by Barcelona, casting doubt on his future at Camp Nou once again. According to sources close to Xavi, they were not informed of any decision to dismiss him, and they were unaware of it. Upon returning to Gamber Sports City on Friday morning, Xavi immediately sought a meeting with Laporta. However, Laporta refused, citing travel issues as he was about to attend the Women’s King’s Cup final. In reality, Laporta only set off on Saturday morning. Xavi then turned to Laporta’s advisor, Jose Ramon Alexanko, and was instructed to remain calm and wait for a discussion on Monday. Reports suggest that Laporta is buying time to carefully consider the decision to fire Xavi, as it would require the club to pay substantial compensation if he is terminated. This is a different situation compared to when Xavi voluntarily resigned.
