[Saba Sports News] Kyrie Irving injured himself during the offseason.
The Dallas Mavericks announced Tuesday that their eight-time All-Star guard underwent surgery to repair a broken left hand, sustained while training earlier this month.
Irving, 32, had an impressive 2023-24 season, averaging 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, playing as the No. 2 option behind Luka Doncic. The Mavs reached the NBA Finals, where Irving struggled against the Boston Celtics but still had seven postseason games with 30 points or more.
The good news is that with training camp three months away, Irving should have ample time to recover from what is typically a four-to-six-week injury. Additionally, as a right-handed player, his left hand’s injury might be less impactful.
