[Saba Sports News] Kyrie Irving isn’t staying silent after his team’s season-ending loss.
The Dallas Mavericks were officially eliminated from NBA title contention with a 106-88 defeat to the Boston Celtics in Monday night’s Finals game, resulting in a gentleman’s sweep as the Celtics needed just five games to win the series.
Moments after the loss, Irving shared a message with fans on social media.
“Tribe, stay together no matter what,” Irving posted on X. “Through the ups and downs, wins and losses, success and failure. Keep your head up high. This mission is bigger than us. I love you all! Hélà.”
The eight-time All-Star Irving faced intense scrutiny during the Finals and struggled to meet expectations, averaging 19.8 points and 5.0 assists per game on 41/28/100 shooting splits. He had difficulty against the defense of Boston’s Jrue Holiday and Derrick White and failed to provide the consistent No. 2 support that Dallas needed alongside Luka Doncic.
Additionally, Irving, a former Boston Celtic, did not help his case with comments about Celtics fans during the series, which attracted more negative publicity and added pressure.
