[Saba Sports News] F1
driver Robert Jozef Kubica, formerly associated with the Williams team, has
continued his involvement in motorsports despite retiring from Formula 1. This
year, he will be competing in the World Endurance Championship with Scuderia
Ferrari. In a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Kubica discussed his
connection with Ferrari. It was revealed that he had the opportunity to join the
Ferrari F1 team in 2012. However, a crash during a rally before the start of
the season resulted in serious injuries, preventing him from taking up the
opportunity. Kubica did not return to Formula 1 until 2019. As an F1 driver,
Kubica has two goals: to join the Ferrari team and to win the F1 world
championship. Although he has recovered from his accident, the missed
opportunity to join Ferrari has left an unhealed “wound” within him.
Now, he has a chance to potentially heal that wound once again. In early February
2011, Kubica was involved in a severe car accident during the Ronde di Andora
rally, resulting in multiple fractures. His co-driver, Jacob Gobo, stated that
Kubica sustained serious injuries when a section of the guardrail pierced the
car after skidding and hitting the right side. Kubica fell into a
semi-conscious state immediately after the incident.
