[Saba Sports News] RCB batter Virat Kohli silenced his T20 batting critics with a remarkable knock of 77 (49) against Punjab Kings on Monday, March 25 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Holding the innings together with 11 fours and two sixes, the 35-year-old led RCB to their first win of the season.
Thanks to Kohli’s innings, RCB chased down the target in 19.2 overs, securing victory by six wickets. Kohli earned the Player of the Match title for his outstanding performance but cautioned RCB fans against getting overly excited, as it’s only the beginning of the season.
Acknowledging the unwavering support from RCB fans, Kohli emphasized the significance of creating memories over achievements and statistics. With this knock, Kohli also claimed the Orange Cap for the season, accumulating 98 runs from two innings at an average of 49 and a strike rate of 142.02.
“Don’t get too overexcited, it’s only two games. I know what it means,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation.
Reflecting on his past successes, Kohli reminisced about winning the Orange Cap in the 2016 season with extraordinary numbers and expressed his eagerness to replicate that performance this season to help RCB secure their first IPL trophy.
