[Saba Sports News]Recently, Bayern Munich officially announced that Harry Kane will receive the European Golden Boot award next Tuesday after scoring 36 goals in last season’s league. Bayern Munich stated that he is the third player in the club’s history to receive this honor since Gerd Muller in 1970 and 1972, and Robert Lewandowski in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. The award ceremony will be held at the Bayern Munich Museum at Allianz Arena. The European Golden Shoe began in 1967, sponsored by Adidas and executed by French magazine France Football, but was suspended in 1991 due to controversies over the scoring system used at that time. The newly restored Golden Shoe is still sponsored by Adidas but is now executed by British magazine World Soccer and the European Sports Magazine Group, which also includes a best club selection based on their performance in domestic and European competitions. Notably, former Bayern Munich players Roy Makaay and Luca Toni have also won the European Golden Shoe while playing for Deportivo La Coruña and Fiorentina, respectively.
