[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, amid recent criticism and even an investigation, took in Game 1 of the World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers on Friday night.
Though Embiid didn’t grow up with baseball, he tweeted, “Bases loaded grand slam? Jesus Christ,” after Freddie Freeman’s walk-off homer. Fans quickly noticed his mix-up, as a grand slam always requires loaded bases.
Social media had a field day, with one user joking, “Of all the kinds of grand slams, bases loaded ones are easily top 5.” Others poked fun at Embiid’s “load management” rest, with another user saying, “Take a page from Freddie and play.”
After missing preseason, Embiid’s next shot to debut for the 0-2 Sixers is Sunday against the Pacers. Meanwhile, Game 2 of the World Series offers him a chance to brush up on baseball lingo.
