Sports News] This season, Joaquín Correa has been loaned from Inter Milan to
Marseille. In the midweek Europa League group stage match, Correa started the
game but was fouled by Ajax player Steven Berghuis in the 63rd minute. Correa
was injured and had to leave the field, while Berghuis received a red card.
Ultimately, Marseille won the match 4-3 at home against Ajax.
After
the game, Berghuis expressed dissatisfaction with the red card decision. He
claimed that he touched the ball first before making contact with Correa and
believed that it was a normal tackle. He even argued that he should not have
received a yellow card. Additionally, Berghuis had a conversation with Correa
but did not feel the need to apologize to him.
In
response, Correa posted a photo on his Instagram account after the match,
showing his injured leg, and wrote, “Let’s meet again next time.” It
is evident that Correa’s statement could be interpreted as a “threat”
to Berghuis. It is important for players to respect each other as
professionals, and it is hoped that neither of them will approach future
encounters with a retaliatory mindset.
