[Saba Sports News] BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced that cricket academies in Northeast states and Jammu & Kashmir are nearing completion. This initiative aims to boost cricket development in regions traditionally lagging in this area.
Shah, speaking at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in Mumbai, mentioned that these academies, especially in Northeast states like Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh, are expected to open by August. While there are challenges in Manipur, Meghalaya is also set to get an academy.
Shah added that the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru is progressing, aiming to match the standards of Cricket Australia’s High Performance Centre in Brisbane. The upcoming facility in Jammu & Kashmir is also on track. These developments are part of BCCI’s efforts to broaden cricket’s reach and improve facilities across India.
