[Saba Sports News] Australia opener David Warner hopes to increase the worries for England when they face each other in the ODI World Cup 2023.
England are currently placed at the last position on the points table, having lost five of their six games.
Speaking ahead of Australia’s next clash, Warner stated that it will be a good feeling to add onto England’s misery. However, he is wary of the English side, considering that they now have nothing to lose and also possess high-quality players.
“It’d be nice to pile on England’s misery. But they’re the teams that are the most dangerous when there’s nothing to lose. They’ve got some very, very (high) quality players and we have to respect it. They bat to 11 and their bowling unit is very good,” Warner said as quoted by cricket.com.au.
The southpaw is second top-scorer in the ongoing World Cup currently, having hammered 413 runs in six matches, which include two hundreds and one fifty. The in-form Warner added that how he people keep writing him off despite him doing everything he can.
“Everyone keeps writing me off. I’m doing as well as I can, I’m just trying to go out there and start as well as I can up front in the first 10 (overs). If I get in, I try and make the most of it,” he mentioned.
Australia are on a four-match winning streak and are currently placed at the fourth spot on the table with eight points. Their next fixture is scheduled versus England on November 4 in Ahmedabad.
