[Saba Sports News] According to reports from Italian media, Italian fans were reportedly attacked by Croatian fans during the group stage of the European Championship. In the third round of Group B, Italy managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Croatia, advancing to the top 16. The match took place in Leipzig, where a group of Italian fans were targeted by extreme Croatian fans. The attack resulted in four injuries, two of which were serious and required treatment at Leipzig City Hospital. Following the incident, the Leipzig police identified 11 suspects, all of whom were Croatian and Bosnian nationals, aged between 21 and 44 years old. Although the suspects were initially detained, they were later released but still face charges of grievous bodily harm. The report suggests that the conflict between fans stemmed from the theft of a fan flag, which, despite being returned, triggered the subsequent attack.
