[Saba Sports News] The Banteer Badminton Club in Ireland held a gathering to celebrate its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the Banteer Community Centre hosted a women’s sports exhibition, bringing together four of Ireland’s top female badminton players to celebrate this special moment. Previously, the Irish Badminton Association launched a new initiative aimed at increasing participation in sports among teenage girls, which received strong support from the Banteer Club. This project, named “BadminTEEN,” was first launched at St. Mary’s Secondary School, supported by EPS Group and Ashgrove Renewables, and will be rolled out in selected pilot schools nationwide. During the 50th anniversary event held in Banteer, badminton players Rachael Darragh, Sophia Noble, Moya Ryan, and Orla Flynn, who participated in the Paris Olympics, conducted two coaching sessions for girls and took part in a women’s doubles exhibition match. Additionally, a quiz about badminton was held, hosted by local resident and community centre coordinator Ciara O’Flynn, who is also the Munster Badminton Activities Officer. Ciara O’Flynn expressed her honor in participating in the promotion of women’s sports by the Irish Badminton Association.
