[Saba Sports News] India’s top woman badminton
player, PV Sindhu, is set to make her comeback at the Asian Team Championships
after being absent from the ongoing Indian Badminton Open due to injury. In a
recent interview, Sindhu revealed her plan to return to competition in
mid-February and expressed her goal of winning the Paris Olympics. Sindhu has
been granted world ranking protection to compete in the Olympics as a seeded
player. Currently ranked 11th in women’s singles, Sindhu sustained a left knee
injury during the Super 750 Series French Badminton Open in October of the
previous year. Sindhu is currently receiving guidance from Indian badminton
legend Prakash Padukone at the Bangalore Badminton Academy. Additionally,
Indonesian coach Agus Dwi Santoso has joined her team to assist with her
recovery training. Sindhu began training with Santoso approximately 10 days
ago, with Padukone providing technical and tactical advice from the sidelines.
Vimal Kumar, the founder of the Bangalore Badminton Academy and former Indian
star player, shared these details. Sindhu has earned the nickname “Big
Tournament Sindhu” from the media due to her strong performances in
Olympic years. She won the silver medal in women’s singles badminton at the Rio
Olympics and the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. With her sights set on the
Paris Olympics, Sindhu is determined to make a successful comeback and compete
at the highest level.
