[Saba Sports News] Recently, the Badminton World Federation announced that Guwahati, the largest city in northeastern India, has become the host city of the 2025 Badminton World Federation World Youth Championship. Data show that Guwahati is one of the fastest-growing cities in India. It is located on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River that flows through Tibet, China, northeastern India, and Bangladesh. Since Guwahati has many ancient Hindu temples, it is also known as the “City of Temples”. By then, both the team and individual competitions of the World Youth Championship will be held at the Badminton Association of India (BAI) National Center of Excellence in the capital of Assam. The center will be completed in August 2023 and has 14 courts, an international standard stadium, and 4,000 spectator seats. The last time India hosted the World Youth Championship was in 2008. After the World Youth Championship, India also hosted the 2009 BWF World Championship and the 2014 BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals. It is reported that Guwahati is the hometown of Indian badminton genius Ashmita Chaliha. In February this year, Chaliha participated in the Asian Badminton Team Championships held in India with the team and won the team gold medal. Chaliha said that she will attend the game next year and hopes that the reserves can achieve good results.
