[Saba Sports News] In the second ODI between India and Australia at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, a mishap occurred involving Indian teammates Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar. This incident happened while the Indian team was attempting to recover from early fielding errors and restrict the Australian batting.
In the 25th over, Beth Mooney’s precise shot led to a collision at the field between Rana, positioned at backward point, and Vastrakar at point. The impact left both players needing immediate medical assistance. Vastrakar seemed fine, but Rana was noticeably affected and had to exit the field after first aid and using an ice pack.
Rana, primarily affected by the collision, required a stretcher initially but eventually walked off with help from the physio. She returned to the field five overs later, as Renuka Singh began her second spell. Rana had completed her 10-over quota in the game, taking one wicket for 59 runs.
In the match, the Australian captain chose to bat first. Standout performances from Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry, who scored 63 and 50 runs respectively, along with contributions from Tahlia McGrath, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King, brought Australia to a solid 258/8. Deepti Sharma shone for India with the ball, claiming five wickets, including those of Perry, McGrath, and Sutherland.
India’s chase began with them scoring 32 runs in the first six overs. Yastika Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana were at the crease, contributing 10 and 19 runs each. The Indian team is determined to win this match to level the three-match series, especially after Australia’s dominant win in the first game by six wickets.
