Bundesliga, Augsburg and Hoffenheim played to a 1-1 draw at Augsburg’s home
stadium. However, in the 55th minute of the match, a disturbing incident
occurred. A Hoffenheim fan threw a lit firecracker towards the Augsburg bench,
causing a loud explosion in the stadium. The firecracker landed in the fan
area, resulting in the unfortunate injury of 11 people, included two girls,
aged 12 and 17. Prompt medical attention was provided to the injured fans, and
the situation was closely monitored. The stadium witnessed a significant
disturbance, leading to a seven-minute interruption in the game. Play resumed
in the 62nd minute. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening. The
stadium announcer made it clear that if any further explosions occurred, the
game would be immediately cancelled. The police have taken two suspects into
custody in connection with the incident.
