He shared this significant news with his fans through an emotional social media post. “After much contemplation about my international career, I’ve decided that the time is ripe for me to step away from international cricket,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their enduring support, noting that representing Pakistan was a true honor. Imad cherished each of his 121 games in ODI and T20I formats, seeing them as the fulfillment of a dream. Looking ahead, he voiced excitement for the future of Pakistan cricket under new leadership and coaching, wishing them success and eagerly anticipating their triumphs.
Imad also thanked the Pakistani fans for their unwavering passion and support, and extended heartfelt appreciation to his family and friends for their vital role in his high-level achievements. He’s now set to focus on the next chapter of his career outside the international arena.
Throughout his career, Imad demonstrated a versatile skill set in both batting and bowling. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he nearly reached 1000 runs with a robust average of 42.86, and in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), he maintained an impressive strike rate of 131.70.
His performances in First-Class cricket are notable, with an average of 40.68 across 77 matches. In List A cricket, he scored over 2600 runs, including two centuries and 16 half-centuries.
Imad’s bowling talents were equally formidable. He took 44 wickets in ODIs with an impressive best figure of 5/14, and in T20Is, he claimed 65 wickets at an average of 21.78.
His records in First-Class and List A cricket further showcase his bowling capabilities, with 141 and 130 wickets, respectively. In T20 cricket, his tally of 290 wickets is particularly remarkable.
