[Saba Sports News] Scott Edwards, who led the Netherlands team to a successful win against a hot World Cup favorites, South African, is now set to clash against Sri Lanka in the 19th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Netherlands pulled off an upset on Tuesday by defeating the Proteas by 38 runs, marking their first-ever ODI World Cup victory against a full-member nation. Edwards top-scored in that game with his unbeaten 78-run knock.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka have struggled to open their account, having faced three losses in all their matches against South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia
At the toss, the Dutch captain Edwards revealed that they are aiming to reach the semi-finals, emphasizing that every team participating in the World Cup aspires to reach the semis.
“Every team wants to reach the semis and if you don’t aim that, you should not be here. I think the boys are excited to do well and hope to keep up the momentum that we gained against South Africa. Every game is important and we are looking forward to it. We have no changes to our side. Playing with the same side,” Edwards said.
Netherlands are currently placed at No. 8 on the points table, having played three matches and won only one, while Sri Lanka are sitting at the bottom, failing to win any of their fixtures so far.
