[Saba Sports News] Seeking to reverse their fortunes following a substantial 360-run loss in the initial Test against Australia, Pakistan is preparing for a pivotal Boxing Day match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Amidst anticipations for Pakistan’s pursuit of a Test win on Australian turf, Iceland Cricket humorously mocked the Asian cricket powerhouses.
Following Pakistan’s defeat, Iceland Cricket lightheartedly announced on social media an analysis they conducted, humorously noting that nearly half of their followers hadn’t been born when Pakistan last secured a Test victory in Australia back in 1995. “We did some demographic analysis and found that 45.6% of our followers were not around when Pakistan last won a Test in Australia in 1995. This number will increase to 45.8% if they don’t win the upcoming Boxing Day Test,” shared Iceland Cricket on ‘X’.
In preparation for Australian conditions, the Pakistan team scheduled a two-day practice match against Victoria XI on December 22 and 23. This game, an addition not originally planned in their tour, was arranged to address concerns over insufficient practice. The match, not a standard four-day Test, offers the Pakistan team an opportunity to experiment with various lineups and tactics.
“The Victoria tour game was an unplanned addition to our schedule. We wanted more practice sessions than just one official game, which had first-class status, preventing all bowlers from getting a chance to adapt,” Pakistan head coach Mohammad Hafeez explained.
As the Boxing Day Test looms, both Australia and Pakistan are gearing up for a critical showdown. Australia, aiming to clinch the series, is up against a resolute Pakistani team determined to keep the three-match Test series competitive. The upcoming match on December 26 in Melbourne is set to be an exhilarating contest, with both teams vying for dominance on the famed MCG ground.
