[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, former Championship player Kiernan Hughes-Mason was sentenced to 14 years in prison for violently assaulting a 2-year-old girl, causing her brain injury. The 32-year-old Hughes-Mason previously played in Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur’s youth academies and later played for Millwall. Reports state that Hughes-Mason inflicted 17 different injuries on the child’s face, chest, back, and legs over three months, resulting in her needing round-the-clock care. Hughes-Mason claimed that the girl fell in her dollhouse. However, medical experts stated that the injuries sustained by the little girl were comparable to those from a high-speed traffic accident or falling from several stories high. The girl was in a coma for 14 days and ultimately suffered severe brain injuries, putting her life in danger. Currently, she is still unable to walk, sit, or stand on her own and is in constant pain; she struggles to speak and suffers from epilepsy and must be fed through a tube due to difficulties eating or drinking.
