[Saba Sports News] The 2024 China Youth Badminton
Championships recently took place at the Nanchang International Sports Center.
During the third round of the group stage, Nanchang faced a challenge from
“Hui Nantian,” resulting in moisture affecting both the upper and
lower floors of the venue. Some fans jokingly remarked that even Lin Dan, a
legendary badminton player, would struggle to perform under such conditions. To
ensure smooth competition, the organizing committee devised a clever solution.
It was reported that prior to each day’s matches, the committee would assess
the humidity levels. If the humidity was too high, the central air conditioning
system would be activated one hour before the games to dehumidify the venue,
maintaining a temperature above 20 degrees Celsius and humidity between 60% and
70%. During breaks between games, dedicated venue staff would use special dry
cloths and mops to wipe the playing field, ensuring that no unexpected conditions
would arise during the matches. Additionally, wind also posed a challenge. Even
a slight air current could alter the trajectory of the shuttlecock, impacting
the game. To counter this, the venue staff covered all retractable seats with
high-density plush cloth to prevent wind interference, while the venue
entrances and exits remained closed to ensure a smooth progression of the
badminton matches in every aspect.
