[Saba Sports News] In the ICC Women’s Championship series, which South Africa won 2-1, Bangladesh’s Fargana Hoque and South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp have made significant strides in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings.
Hoque’s exceptional performance, highlighted by a 102-run innings in the second match, propelled her up two spots to a personal best 13th position. Similarly, Kapp’s skilled new-ball bowling, especially her 2/21 figures in the second and third games, elevated her one place to eighth.
Bangladesh’s Rabeya Khan, a wrist spinner, also climbed four spots to 52nd, while all-rounder Ritu Moni advanced in both batting (up eight places to 68th) and bowling (up four places to 90th).
At the top of the Women’s ODI Player Rankings, Natalie Sciver-Brunt leads the batting charts with 897 points. She’s followed by Australia’s Beth Mooney and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, while Laura Wolvaardt and Smriti Mandhana round out the top five. In bowling, Sophie Ecclestone holds the top spot with 746 points, followed by Jess Jonassen, Megan Schutt, Ashleigh Gardner, and Ayabonga Khaka.
Kapp shines in the all-rounders’ rankings as well, securing the top spot with 394 points. She’s joined in the top five by Ashleigh Gardner, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, and Amelia Kerr. This ranking showcases the evolving and competitive landscape of women’s cricket on a global scale.
