[Saba Sports News] In the second match of the West Indies vs. Australia T20I series at North Sydney Oval, West Indies needed a win after a humiliating loss in the first match. Australia, batting first, had a shaky start with their captain Alyssa Healy dismissed on the first ball, followed by Tahlia McGrath falling early.
However, Australia’s batters recovered impressively. Ellyse Perry scored 70, and Phoebe Litchfield’s quickfire 52* off 19 balls helped Australia reach a total of 212 runs in their 20 overs.
At the halfway point, it seemed Australia was on track for a commanding 2-0 series lead. But West Indies’ captain Hayley Matthews, who had taken three wickets earlier, had different plans.
Despite losing an early wicket, Stafanie Taylor and captain Matthews joined forces and launched an assault on the Australian bowlers. They built a remarkable 174-run partnership for the second wicket.
Matthews played an exceptional innings, scoring 132 off 64 balls with 20 fours and five sixes, while Taylor contributed 59 runs off 41 balls with 11 fours. West Indies chased down the target of 213 runs with one ball to spare and seven wickets in hand, leveling the series at 1-1, stunning the Australian team.
