[Saba Sports News] Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle praised Tanveer Sangha’s performance in the Sydney Thunder vs. Perth Scorchers Big Bash League (BBL) match in Sydney on January 8. Sangha, playing for Thunder, allowed just 14 runs in his four overs, maintaining an excellent economy rate of 3.50.
Bhogle, commentating during the match, was notably impressed with the 22-year-old’s bowling and advocated for his inclusion in Australia’s Test team. Although Sangha, originally from Jalandhar, India, has represented Australia in limited-overs cricket, he awaits his Test debut. He was part of Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup squad but didn’t play in the tournament.
Bhogle remarked during the commentary, “Send him out to play red ball cricket, he can bowl!”
In the same match, Perth Scorchers triumphed over Sydney Thunder by seven wickets. After winning the toss, Scorchers chose to field. Cooper Connolly and Ashton Agar led the bowling attack for Scorchers with figures of 3/25 and 2/6, respectively. Sydney’s Alex Hales scored a rapid 55-ball 72, including four boundaries and five sixes, contributing to their total of 137.
Scorchers’ opener Zak Crawley scored a 56-ball 58 with eight fours, helping chase down the modest target with five balls remaining. Thunder’s Nathan McAndrew took two wickets, and captain Chris Green claimed one. Scorchers, led by Aaron Hardie, are currently second in the standings with 11 points, trailing Brisbane Heat. Thunder, however, is struggling in the tournament, placed second-last on the points table with only one win from seven matches.
