[Saba Sports News] At a recently concluded
auction in Las Vegas, USA, a Mercedes-Benz Formula One racing car driven by the
renowned British driver Lewis Hamilton was sold for a staggering $18.8 million,
setting the second-highest price ever paid for an F1 racing car. The car being
auctioned was the championship-winning vehicle Hamilton drove during the 2013
Formula One season. Notably, this Mercedes-Benz F1 car marked Hamilton’s
transition from McLaren to Mercedes-Benz and was the last V8-powered Formula
One car he drove. Prior to joining Mercedes-Benz in 2013, Hamilton had driven
for McLaren from 2007 to 2012. His partnership with Mercedes-Benz proved to be
highly successful, as Hamilton and the team went on to win the championship for
six consecutive seasons. This achievement remains a remarkable record in
Formula One to this day.
