[Saba Sports News] FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem recently made controversial remarks regarding F1 drivers using profanity during radio communications. Ben Sulayem stated that he is not a rapper and that motorsport is different from rap music. British driver Lewis Hamilton disagreed with the FIA president’s comparison, noting that most rappers are Black and calling the term “rapper” somewhat stereotypical, which he deemed an incorrect phrasing containing elements of racial discrimination. Although Hamilton disagreed with Ben Sulayem’s wording, he supported the FIA president’s stance that drivers should be mindful of their language while driving when the world is watching F1. Some fans believe that Hamilton, being a Black driver, is particularly sensitive to remarks that may be racially insensitive. Previously, in an interview with Complex magazine, Hamilton stated that experiencing racial discrimination has made him stronger.
