[Saba Sports News] In the final round of Group F of the European Championship, Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0 and successfully advanced to the knockout stages. It is noteworthy that this is Georgia’s first appearance in the European Championship. After the game, Georgian lawmakers celebrated and cheered in parliament. Video footage showed lawmakers wearing team scarves, some wearing jerseys, and others draping themselves in national flags. They stood up, clapped, and sang loudly. Some danced, while others hugged fellow members of parliament. Additionally, Georgia’s richest man, Bidzina Ivanishvili, announced that to celebrate Georgia’s first appearance in the European Championship and their qualification for the knockout stages, he will donate 30 million Georgian lari (approximately $10.62 million) to the national team. Bidzina Ivanishvili also promised that if the national team continues to advance to the next stage, he will provide an additional 30 million Georgian lari as a reward.
