[Saba Sports News] With the conclusion of the 2023 Badminton World
Tour Finals, the upcoming 2024 season is on the horizon. The schedules and
venues for each tour have been mostly finalized. In preparation for the Paris
Olympics, the French Badminton Association has made the decision to move the
French Open, originally scheduled for October, to March of this year. It will
be held consecutively with the All England Open, posing a significant challenge
for the players. To accommodate the Paris Olympics, events originally planned
for June and July had to be rescheduled. Consequently, the Thomas Uber Cup,
originally slated for May, has been moved forward to the end of April. The
French Badminton Association recently confirmed that the 2024 French Open,
taking place from March 5 to 10 next year, will utilize the Porte de La
Chapelle Arena in Paris, which will serve as the badminton venue for the Paris
Olympics. This positioning allows the 2024 French Open to double as a test
event, evaluating the venue’s capability to host major badminton competitions.
Construction of the Porte La Chapelle Arena is set to commence in 2021 and is
anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2023. The arena will feature 6,700
seats for badminton competitions and will also serve as the venue for rhythmic
gymnastics during the Paris Olympic Games.
