[Saba Sports News] In a recent media interview,
former F1 president Ecclestone shared his thoughts on the performance of the
Mercedes-Benz team in the previous season. He criticized Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell, the two drivers representing Mercedes-Benz. According to
Ecclestone, both Hamilton and Russell had a lackluster season, failing to
secure a single victory. This was the first time since 2011, and it was truly
disappointing. Ecclestone also commented that while Red Bull dominated the
season, the success of driver Max Verstappen could not be solely attributed to
the team, as he believes Verstappen would have won regardless of the car he
drove. Ecclestone is a legendary figure in F1, having held the positions of
President and CEO of the Formula One Management Committee and the Formula One
Management Company. He was considered the figurehead of Formula One until the
end of 2016 when the sport was acquired by the American Liberty Media Company.
