[Saba Sports News] The Valencia region in Spain is currently facing severe flooding due to heavy rain. In just 8 hours, the town of Chiva recorded 491 mm of rainfall, exceeding the total rainfall of the previous 20 months. This disaster has resulted in at least 214 deaths. Recently, active La Liga player Ferran Torres from Barcelona expressed his dissatisfaction on social media, stating, “Our country needs to change. I didn’t even have the strength to go to the stadium to watch my teammates play today. The country is failing.” It is reported that Valencia is Ferran’s hometown, and he has decided to assist the affected residents in various ways. He will donate leftover supplies from a football summer camp, mainly clothing, to those who have been forced to leave their homes or have lost their belongings. Additionally, he has promised to provide financial assistance and pay special attention to local animal shelters affected by the disaster, offering help to those facilities damaged by the floods. Although he cannot be on-site for rescue efforts, Ferran is still providing aid to his hometown, which has been designated as a disaster area. His actions demonstrate his deep affection and sense of responsibility towards his hometown.
