[Saba Sports News] Indian badminton player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy
recently shared a video on X, showcasing his father’s reaction upon receiving
the Guinness World Records certificate for the fastest badminton shot. The
video, posted on December 5, has garnered nearly 100,000 views and over 2,100
likes. The new world record was achieved on April 14 of this year at the Tokyo
Factory Gymnasium in Soga City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Satwiksairaj
Rankireddy surpassed his own previous record of 493 km/h set 10 years ago by
hitting a speed of 565 kilometers per hour. It’s important to note that this
speed was achieved under test match conditions, as creating such a record in a
regular match is highly unlikely due to various factors. Currently, the highest
speed recorded in an official match stands at 426 kilometers per hour. To put
the speed of 565 kilometers per hour into perspective, consider the new
generation E7 series bullet train that operates between Tokyo and Nagano,
Japan, with a top speed of 257 kilometers per hour. Therefore, Satwiksairaj
Rankireddy’s badminton shot speed surpasses that of a bullet train.
