[Saba Sports News] This year, ticket sales for the F1 UK event have been disappointing, with tickets still available. Compared to previous years, this year’s sales are notably weaker. Stuart Pringle, managing director of Silverstone Circuit, attributes this to the dominance of the Red Bull F1 team and the absence of British drivers competing for the world championship, which has dampened fans’ enthusiasm. Additionally, some fans believe that overpriced tickets have seriously affected British fans’ willingness to attend the race, coupled with the recent hot weather in Europe making TV viewing more appealing. Ticket data shows that among all F1 races in the 2024 season, tickets for the F1 UK event are the fifth most expensive, costing £789 for the three main stands. In contrast, tickets for the three-day main grandstand of the F1 Spanish Grand Prix cost only £436. Historically, when Silverstone Circuit signed a 17-year agreement to host the F1 British Grand Prix in 2009, it sold 6,500 F1 main grandstand tickets within 24 hours. However, with rising operating costs, ticket prices for the F1 UK event have increased yearly, becoming too high for many working-class fans. As Silverstone approaches a critical contract renewal juncture, the continuation of the British Grand Prix may be at risk if operating conditions do not improve.
