[Saba Sports News] India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel resurrected his team from 177/7, stitching crucial partnerships with Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep lower down the order in the ongoing Test match versus England.
Exuding great temperament, Jurel notched up his maiden Test fifty. He celebrated milestone with a salute. As revealed by him, this gesture was for his father, who had fought in the 1999 Kargil war and is now a retired havildar.
Post his innings, Jurel opened up on the conversation with his father, who had requested him to do a salute after hitting half-century.
“The celebration after scoring fifty was for my father. He is a veteran of Kargil War. Yesterday evening, I was speaking to my father over phone and he told me indirectly ‘beta, show your salute once at least’, I have been doing that since childhood, so that celebration was for him,” Jurel said as quoted on his celebration.
Jurel was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. The 23-year-old’s 90-run knock took India to a score of 307 in the first innings of the match.
India then bowled out England at a total of 145 runs. Chasing 192, the hosts have already scored 40 runs by the end of Day 3 with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal going unbeaten to the dressing room.
