[Saba Sports News] Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who recently excelled in the ODI series against South Africa, has been seen indulging in his love for football during a break from cricket. Following his impressive achievement of scoring his first ODI century, Samson enjoyed some leisure time at a local football tournament in Kerala.
A widely shared video shows Samson skillfully dribbling in a Trivandrum sevens tournament, highlighting his talent beyond cricket. Samson, whose father was a football player for the Delhi Police Football Team, has often spoken about his fondness for the sport.
Samson’s cricketing highlight was his outstanding performance in the third ODI against South Africa, where he scored a remarkable 108 off 114 deliveries. This crucial innings contributed significantly to India’s series win. Despite his successes, Samson has faced challenges in consistently securing a place in the national team.
Regarding his recent cricketing achievements, Samson emphasized his long-term dedication, stating that his efforts extend well beyond the last few months. He appreciates the ODI format for the additional time it allows to understand the pitch and the bowler’s strategy. Batting earlier in the lineup also offers the advantage of more deliveries.
Following the third ODI, Samson commented, “I have been working hard, not just for the past couple of months, so it’s nice. This format gives you some extra time to understand the wicket and the bowler’s mindset. Batting at the top of the order gives you those 10-20 extra deliveries.”
Currently, Samson is not part of the team for the Test series against South Africa, which gives him the opportunity to pursue his passion for football during this break.
