[Saba Sports News] In March of this year, Saudi Arabia announced an ambitious plan to construct a new F1 track in Qiddiya, an emerging entertainment and tourism city near the capital city of Riyadh. The completion of this track is expected by the 2028 season. Recently, Saudi Arabia released an official video confirming that the Qiddiya project has commenced. According to the information, the Qiddiya City track’s design was a collaboration between veteran F1 track designer Herman Tilke and former F1 driver Alex Wurz. The track spans approximately 7 kilometers, features 21 turns, and accommodates 80 garages. One of the most notable aspects is the first corner, which is situated near a 20-story building called “The Blade.” This structure hovers above a concert hall, creating a visually striking effect. As Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company is one of the largest sponsors of F1 and the main sponsor of the Aston Martin F1 Team, Fernando Alonso, who is a star driver for the Aston Martin F1 Team, has expressed excitement about the Qiddiya City Circuit, stating that it will become the most impressive racing track in the world.
