[Saba Sports News] There might be some tension brewing for the reigning NBA champions.
On a recent episode of The Lowe Post, ESPN’s Zach Lowe mentioned rumors of a rift between Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone and the front office.
“There are rumblings that the coaching staff and front office, or at least Malone and the front office, aren’t exactly seeing eye to eye,” said Lowe, calling it unusual for the NBA.
Malone, who led Denver to a 2023 championship and has a contract through 2027, has earned a solid footing.
However, after a disappointing second-round playoff exit and minimal roster upgrades (including signing 36-year-old Russell Westbrook), the team faces uncertainty.
With Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon approaching free agency in 2025, Malone and GM Calvin Booth (who didn’t hire Malone) may be feeling the pressure.
