[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Clippers may be without Kawhi Leonard for an extended period as he deals with another knee injury.
On ESPN’s “NBA Today,” Shams Charania reported that Leonard is expected to miss “weeks” as he continues his rehab.
Charania stated, “This is not an injury measured in days or even just a week or two. It’s going to be an extended absence as the Clippers start the season without him.”
Last week, Leonard was given an indefinite timeline, but the Clippers are hopeful he’ll return in November and avoid further long-term absences.
Leonard’s durability is a growing concern, especially at age 33, with knee issues plaguing him for years. Although he played 68 games last season, averaging 23.7 points and 6.1 rebounds, his knee troubles resurfaced in the playoffs, limiting him to just two postseason appearances.
Coach Tyronn Lue’s earlier comments suggest the team did not expect this latest setback.
