[Saba Sports News] On May 7, the Badminton World Federation announced the new badminton world rankings. The Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang’s world ranking score exceeded 100,000 points for the first time, becoming the first men’s doubles pair of the Chinese badminton team to achieve this feat, unlocking new heights in their careers. At the same time, the Chinese badminton team became the second national team after the Japanese team to have world ranking points in the five individual badminton events exceeding 100,000. It is reported that Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang’s latest world ranking score reached 102,398 points. This was due to their high score of 10,848 points in the Chengdu Thomas and Uber Cup, replacing the expiring 2023 Sudirman Cup competition points. Data show that the first Chinese badminton player to break through the 100,000-point mark in the world rankings was the women’s doubles pair Yu Yang/Wang Xiaoli. They achieved this feat on August 18, 2011. Since then, Li Xue Rui, Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, Chen Long, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, Wang Yi Lv/ Huang Dongping, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yifan, Chen Yufei, and other stars have successively completed this 100,000-point milestone, but the men’s doubles combination was the only one missing. Today, Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang have reached the 100,000-point mark, filling the gap in the Chinese badminton team.
