Sports News] In the women’s singles final of the recently concluded 2024 Indian
Open, China’s top player Chen Yufei suffered a 0-2 defeat to Tai Tzu-Ying from
Chinese Taipei. Regrettably, she was unable to secure the first championship
title of the 2024 season. Following the match, Chen Yufei made the decision to
withdraw from the Indonesia Masters, which is scheduled to take place this
week. She stated that her return to the court will be during the European
season in March. It has come to light that Chen Yufei has been grappling with
foot injuries since the China Masters held in Shenzhen last November. Despite
receiving treatment and taking anti-inflammatory medication daily, the results
were not particularly satisfactory. After the BWF World Tour Finals in December
of last year, Chen Yufei underwent an MRI examination which revealed tissue and
bone edema in her foot. As the Malaysian Open holds significant importance in
terms of qualification for the Paris Olympics, Chen Yufei chose to compete
despite her injuries. In order to participate in the competition, she received
a blocking shot before the event. Chen Yufei explained that this treatment
method, known as sealing, has been effective thus far. Since the injection does
not involve ligaments and does not pose a major problem, it will not have a
long-term impact on her career. She intends to utilize this one-month break to
adjust and recover, with the goal of returning in March to participate in
European competitions such as the Swiss Open, All England, and French Open.
