[Saba Sports News] Assam and Rajasthan Royals’ batsman, Riyan Parag, has experienced a complete turnaround in his fortunes during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), showcasing outstanding form in the first two matches of the season. The 22-year-old kicked off the 17th edition with an impressive 43 (29) against Lucknow Super Giants, followed by a remarkable innings of 82* (52) against Delhi Capitals, marking the highest score of his IPL career.
After his stellar performances with the bat, Parag received commendation from Indian and Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who reminisced about a meeting with the youngster at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Yadav recounted encountering Parag at the NCA, where despite a minor injury, he observed a newfound determination and dedication in the young player.
“Met a guy at NCA few weeks ago. He came with a slight niggle. Completely focused on his recovery and with great discipline working on his skills. And I was not wrong to tell that to one of the coaches there ‘He is a changed guy’ RIYAN PARAG 2.0 🔥 Watch out,” shared Suryakumar Yadav on his X account.
Notably, Parag achieved his third half-century in IPL against Delhi Capitals, delivering a standout performance in the T20 extravaganza. Initially cautious due to early wickets falling, he accelerated in the 13th over, hitting a half-tracker from Kuldeep Yadav for a maximum. He intensified his onslaught in the 15th over against Khaleel Ahmed, smashing him for six and consecutive boundaries. Parag reached his fifty in the 16th over by launching Mukesh Kumar for a straight six.
In the final over, Parag took on Anrich Nortje, accumulating 25 runs off him and elevating Rajasthan’s total to 185/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
