Sports News] On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, Malaysian badminton star
Chan Peng Soon shared a New Year video on social media platforms to extend his
greetings to badminton fans and netizens. In the video, Chan is seen wearing a
red sweater, holding a wave of spring, and sporting a bright smile, indicating
a cheerful mood. Chan Peng Soon is a mixed doubles player from Malaysia, known
for his achievements in international badminton competitions. He won the silver
medal in mixed doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the bronze medal in
mixed doubles at the Commonwealth Games. He also clinched the mixed doubles
championship at the Asian Badminton Championships. In domestic competitions, he
has secured victories at the Malaysian National Badminton Grand Prix and two
mixed doubles championships in the finals. However, due to injuries and
insufficient points to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Chan Peng Soon has
announced that he will retire after the Malaysian Super 500 tournament in May
this year. This means that it may be challenging to see him compete on the
court again in the future. Chan’s New Year video serves as a warm gesture to
express his appreciation and well wishes to badminton fans and netizens during
the festive season.
