[Saba Sports News] In a recent South American World Cup qualifier, Uruguay drew 0-0 with Paraguay. Notably, after this match, Uruguayan star Luis Suarez officially ended his international career, receiving a tribute from home fans. At the stadium, Uruguayan supporters honored the legendary forward with a TIFO that read: “Eternal No. 9, Luis.” Afterward, 77-year-old former Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez presented Suarez with a medal. Fans chanted Suarez’s name, and he tearfully raised his arms in thanks before embracing his wife tightly. It’s reported that one of the goal at Uruguay’s Centenario Stadium will be named after Suarez in recognition of the fact that he scored his first international goal there. The goalpost in question is located in front of the Amsterdam stand, where Suarez scored his first goal for the national team. The Uruguayan Football Association has decided to name the goalpost in Suarez’s honor. Suarez, now 37, played 143 matches for Uruguay, scoring 69 goals and providing 39 assists. He also represented Uruguay in five Copa America and four World Cups.
