[Saba Sports News] The Boston Celtics seem to have made a decision regarding Malcolm Brogdon. According to a recent report by Adam Himmelsbach from the Boston Globe, the Celtics are currently not actively pursuing a trade for Brogdon, treating him similarly to other players on their roster. However, Himmelsbach does note that there is a sense of something amiss in the Brogdon-Celtics relationship.
Earlier this week, there were reports indicating that Brogdon, the seasoned guard, was displeased with the Celtics. This discontent might stem from a previous attempt to trade Brogdon to the LA Clippers in a three-team deal last June, which ultimately collapsed due to significant health concerns surrounding Brogdon. This is likely at the core of Brogdon’s frustrations with the team.
Nevertheless, there is a compelling argument for the Celtics to retain Brogdon and work on repairing their relationship with him. After the failed trade with the Clippers, the Celtics traded Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies in a separate deal, which created more opportunities in the backcourt. Brogdon still has two years left on his contract, and he demonstrated his abilities by winning the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award last season, posting an impressive 15-4-4 stat line off the bench (before a right forearm injury affected his playoff performance).
It appears that, as training camp approaches, the Celtics are inclined to give Brogdon another chance rather than exploring alternative options at the point guard position.
