[Saba Sports News] It’s a challenging time for Blazers fans, but NBA champion Byron Scott believes that Portland should find joy in Damian Lillard’s trade to the Bucks. Former Lakers star at KiKi Shepard’s ‘Celebrity Golf Classic’ this week, and they discussed the significant trade that sent Dame Time to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team.
While it’s undoubtedly disappointing for Portland fans to see their franchise player leave after 11 seasons, Byron suggests that rather than retiring their No. 0 jerseys, they should focus on the positive aspect of Lillard having a chance to win a championship with his new team.
In Byron’s words, ‘I think, obviously, Damian joining the Bucks—a team that won a championship a couple of years ago, and they have one of the best players, if not the best player in the league, in the Greek Freak, as I call him… and adding Damian, who is motivated, who wants to win a championship, who has given his heart and soul to the Portland area—I think they should not be so upset that he’s left but should be happy for him to get a chance to win.’
Scott also acknowledges that the Bucks did lose an elite perimeter defender in Jrue Holiday during the trade but still predicts Milwaukee’s success in the Eastern Conference even in his absence. As the saying goes, Blazer fans, ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!
