[Saba Sports News] The Brooklyn Nets may pair Ben Simmons with a similar player.
Nets reporter Erik Slater revealed on Monday that the team is attending a workout for guard Killian Hayes this week in Las Vegas. Hayes is seeking another NBA opportunity after being waived by the Detroit Pistons last February.
The 22-year-old Hayes, drafted seventh overall by the Pistons in 2020, was selected ahead of future All-Stars like Tyrese Haliburton and Tyrese Maxey. However, Hayes has struggled to meet expectations over four NBA seasons, becoming an online meme due to his poor shooting (38.2% from the field and 27.7% from three), frequent turnovers, and questionable decision-making. A notable moment in his career was a fight with the Orlando Magic.
Hayes remained unsigned after his release from Detroit last season. Despite this, his young age may offer him a lifeline with the Nets, who are looking to bolster their backcourt.
