[Saba Sports News] In a recent announcement by
the British Silverstone Grand Prix, it has been confirmed that the race has
renewed its contract with Formula 1 for a period of 10 years. This means that
the British Grand Prix will continue to be held until at least 2034, securing
its long-term future. Silverstone, located in Northamptonshire, hosted the
first Formula 1 World Championship race in 1950. The track underwent a major
renovation in 2010, extending its length to 5.891 kilometers and featuring 18
corners. Over the course of its 74-year history, the Silverstone circuit has
hosted a total of 58 Grands Prix, including the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in
2020. By 2030, the circuit will enter its ninth decade of hosting grand prix
racing. The 2023 British Grand Prix set a record with 480,000 live spectators
attending throughout the weekend, with 60,000 fans camping locally. The
upcoming Silverstone race is scheduled to take place from July 4-7, and it is
expected that the event will continue to attract a growing number of fans in
the future.
