[Saba Sports News] Shams Charania discussed Brandon Ingram’s future on The Pat McAfee Show, stating that both Ingram and the Pelicans want a long-term relationship. However, Ingram expects a salary of $45-50 million per season, which is a sticking point. Charania noted the limited trade market for Ingram, making the Pelicans keen to keep him.
“The only other big All-Star caliber guy like Lauri Markkanen is Brandon Ingram. Both Ingram and the Pelicans want to stay together. The issue is the money. If the Jazz are willing to give Markkanen near the max, the Pelicans are facing a financial decision with Ingram.”
“From what I’m told, Ingram’s trade market is limited, and New Orleans expects him to stay. They want to see what the team looks like before making any adjustments. Ingram is looking for $45 to $50 million per year in an extension.”
Ingram wants to stay with the Pelicans, where he elevated his game to an All-Star level. However, his injury concerns and those of his teammates have held the team back. The Pelicans had considered trading him but have now shifted their stance to keep him.
